i know this is cold coffee for hardcore drinkers, but for newbies or those who lived on the far side of the world, this might just be a convenient piece of trivia.

there's this urban legend that in every case of red horse beer comes the so-called "happy horse." what makes it happy? go check the picture and spot the difference.

1. the top portion of the bottle has a small "red horse beer" label, but the happy horse does not contain the word "beer" on the label.
2. the horse in the logo has startling differences. the happy horse has "spiked" hair (red horse has free flowing mane), "normal" body built (red horse is "flexed" so to speak), a circle around the horse (the normal one does not have), and of course, the notorious smile - the patented difference-maker.
3. notable differences on the horseshoe, lettering, and the "R" mark placing
4. the happy horse has red writings at the back while the red horse has yellowish-white ones.
5, finally, legend has it that the happy horse comes on a one-in-every-case ratio (1:12) and has stronger content than the ordinary one.

the term "legend" might just be the key to this crazed-up myth. the fact of the matter is, the happy horse is the old red horse bottle (used before red horse became "mainstream") that, just like other beer bottles, are re-instated in production. some say that the absence of the term "beer" on top makes the happy horse spiked by gin or some other drink, but such is not really the case. and it does not necessarily mean that beer on old stocks has more "sipa" (meaning "kick" in filipino drinking lingo).

so the happy horse is a legend. make it an urban legend - nonetheless, a well-remembered one in inuman sessions.
